Regent Divinity Cross-Cultural Missions: Test Post One

Well, I just gave the last briefing to the team via conference call. It has been quite a journey preparing students and putting together the logistics for the trip. It is now just a couple of days aways and there are a lot of anticipation and excitement in the air. This is the first of such trips visiting involving visiting multiple countries in Europe that I have planned at Regent. We have quite a schedule. The first port of call is Stuttgart Germany where we will be meeting up with a pastor called Manuel and the youth in his church. We will be staying in the homes of his members which should be great as this will give the students some real life experience of what it feels like to stay in a European home. If we are going to educate Christian leaders to change the world I believe this must include building globally competent and culturally informed students. From there we will go on to Munich and theologically reflect on the Dachau concentration camp and what we can learn from this dark history. Then on to Vienna Austria where we will link up with the MHOP ministry and share ministry with them. Then it is on to Rome via an overnight train. While in Rome we will be ministering as well as reflecting and discussing the place of Rome in the history of Christianity. We will travel to Pisa and then on to Paris where we will be linking up with a ministry that I have been involved with and sharing ministry with them down town Paris as well as doing some sightseeing around Paris. Paris is the last stop before heading home via Frankfurt. Well as least this is the theory but as experience as taught me after 20 years of conducting mission trips nothing goes strictly the way we plan them. without a doubt this will be a life changing experience for our students and hopefully for me too - pray for us.
