At the Airport
While I am sitting here waiting to board the plane to Europe I was thinking through my educational and missional goals for the trip for the students. I suppose the main thing that I want students to learn is a greater appreciation of language, cultures and peoples as well as develop a global competence to to share Jesus across culturally. The global context of the Christian faith is rapidly changing. Today most Christians live in Africa, Asia and South America. Unfortunately many still think that the west is till the vanguard of Christian mission with the all the Euro-American centric thinking with it. As the West continues to secularize and develop into a post Christian context the global south is rapidly developing as the movers and shakers of global Christianity. Christian mission in the western world has to make sense to a postmodern and postChristendom context. This trip is trying to connect with doing mission is a postmodern context. Mission in this context is not an event but a life style. It story, song, experience, narrative, community, fellowship. Its sharing Jesus not just through doctrinal discourse but through holistic living....about to board stay posted
